Project Description

This project reimagines Siena College's existing administration building through a sensitive refurbishment and purposeful new extension, creating a dedicated hub for student wellbeing, counselling, and administrative services.

Designed around a people-centric philosophy, the extension establishes a welcoming new presence at the entry point to the college.  Externally, rounded structures, harmonious materials, and a considered colour palette ensure the extension sits respectfully within the broader campus fabric, feeling both distinctive and belonging.

On the inside, calm and comfort is prioritised through curved forms, soft lighting, considered planting, and warm natural materials — creating spaces where students feel supported from the moment they arrive.  The result is a place of that carefully balances institutional purpose with human sensitivity.

The design draws meaning from the college's namesake, weaving references to Siena, Italy into the architectural language. Patterning derived from the iconic Siena Cathedral appears in custom screening and glazing film, grounding the building in the college's identity and heritage.
