Project Description

The St Eugene Junior Library marks the first stage of a broader campus masterplan, establishing a new heart for the school community through a purpose-built junior library and café.

At the core of the building is a central courtyard, which draws natural light and fresh air deep into the building while creating a sheltered outdoor room for library activities, reading, and gathering. This open space blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor learning, fostering a sense of calm and connection to the natural environment.

Large south-facing windows bring generous natural light into the library throughout the day without direct sun penetration — ensuring a comfortable environment suited to focused reading and study.

Designed with the future in mind, the library floor plate has been designed so that it can be subdivided into three individual classrooms, allowing the building to grow and adapt alongside the campus masterplan it has set in motion.
