Project Description
The project delivers a considered expansion of the existing campus, incorporating a new library, contemporary classrooms, an administration extension, dedicated learning support facilities, and purpose-built technology spaces. An undercroft has been strategically integrated beneath the building to accommodate future multipurpose rooms, ensuring the development can adapt to evolving educational needs over time.
Material selection plays a key role in expressing the building’s architectural intent. Expansive glazing has been used throughout to maximise natural light penetration and strengthen visual connections between internal learning environments and the surrounding site. Perforated metal screens provide both solar control and façade articulation, while a combination of rendered blockwork and off-form concrete walls delivers durability, texture, and a robust civic presence appropriate to an educational setting.
The design responds directly to a number of challenging site constraints, including the bulk and scale of the adjoining OSHC and church buildings, a limited amount of available open space for children, and significant changes in ground levels across the site. These conditions informed both the massing and spatial organisation of the building, ensuring the development integrates sensitively within its context while maintaining functional clarity.
