Project Description

27-unit development consisting of 14 x 3 bed, 9 x 2 bed and 4 x 1 bed is on a corner site built over two lots in /Shailer Park. Planning scheme allows up to 6 storeys and the first DA sought 65 units with a 2-storey basement. Challenges with budget and basement costs due to the water table converted the high-density site to a medium density site with only 1 level of basement parking.

The design sought a light, transparent and noon-invasive development in a circa 1960’s development context.

All ground floor units are design accessible liveable housing designs as a minimum. The articulation is achieved through contrasting textural facade and a light colour palette.

The ground floor is activated by introducing a restaurant/café and a gym well utilised by residents and allows the building to open up to the streets
