Project Description

Completed in 2025, Phase Two of the school development delivers a significant expansion of learning, administrative, and community facilities, while establishing a new architectural direction for the campus. The project comprises extensions to existing building for a new preparatory learning area, with the primary addition being a substantial three-storey consolidated building. This marks a deliberate shift away from the school’s former reliance on raised demountable structures toward a more permanent, cohesive architectural identity.

The development accommodates a wide-ranging program, including a two-level administration suite, a full-sized covered sports court, a commercial kitchen with a dedicated covered seating area, multipurpose learning and activity spaces, terraced informal seating areas, new staff and student amenities, and a centrally located library. Together, these elements support contemporary pedagogical models while strengthening connections between learning, administration, and communal activity.

Located within a designated flood zone, the project required a carefully resolved environmental strategy. Rather than treating flooding as a constraint alone, the design incorporates floodwater storage beneath the sports courts, providing a resilient and integrated solution that supports both site performance and building functionality without compromising usable space.

Positioned at the primary entry to the school, the building establishes a clear community presence. A full-width, three-metre-high portal frame defines the arrival sequence, passively screening the building from the eastern morning sun while creating a strong sense of threshold and identity. This architectural gesture reinforces the building’s role as a new anchor for the school and a marker of the school’s evolving character.

Supported by Commonwealth funding, the project acts as a catalyst for broader campus transformation. It delivers flexible, purpose-built environments that respond to environmental conditions, support future growth, and articulate a confident architectural language aligned with the school’s long-term vision.
